About Us

M-bar Technologies and Consulting, LLC was founded in 2004 to increase public awareness of options available to homeowners to reduce wildfire home losses, in particular the public domain WEEDS water spray protection system.  

Its founder Joseph W. Mitchell, authored California state utility regulations as an expert in wildfire at the California Public Utilities Commission, including state-wide fire hazard maps, utility fire data collection, utility fire prevention plans, and cost/benefit analysis for utility power shut-off. He invented novel wildfire protection system (WEEDS) that saved own home in the 2003 Cedar fire, published the innovative approach in the world’s leading fire engineering journal. He was elected to serve on the California State Fire Marshal Task Force in 2009.
